Biofunctional Products
The extensive contact with consumers, as well as the recognition of the high quality of the company’s products, created the need for new innovative products of higher quality, safety, and nutritional value.
Since 2004, the company has gradually begun to focus on the development of Biofunctional products. Thus, it establishes HHBT “Hellenic Hepirus BioTechnology RD”, with distinguished biologists in the field, a Biotechnology Research Development company, intensifying research on the biofunctionality of its products. In February 2011, it acquires the second patent which concerns a solution of Kozani Saffron with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, in such a way as to not only multiply the properties of olive oil known to all of us, but also to add, to the final mixture, many of the properties of the “medicinal” Saffron. Thus, it creates the new patented series “Pitenis Premium Quality” consisting of 7 Salads, 3 Dressings and a Biofunctional Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Saffron.
Finally, the addition of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to almost all of its self-service products immediately differentiates them from the competition, making them particularly attractive to the modern consumer, not only in Greece but also abroad.

Our company, using two Greek PDO products, the award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Sitia and the
Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Sitia and the Kozani Saffron extract, managed, with the excellent team of Biologists in its RD department, to invent and Internationally Patent a solution that more than doubles the antioxidant properties of Olive Oil. Thus, using this high nutritional value solution, the New PREMIUM Pitenis Product Line was “born”, consisting of seven wonderful salads and three dressings.
SAFFRON (Greek Saffron PDO from Kozani)
There are many traditionally accepted properties of Kozani Saffron, such as aphrodisiac, oral cavity antiseptic, antispasmodic, and digestive. It contributes to well-being and good health of the organism. It exerts antioxidant and antithrombotic action and protects against free radicals.
Recent studies converge towards the conclusion that they improve blood circulation as well as brain function, particularly memory.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (PDO Sitia, Crete)
